I just signed up for college yesterday?

I really don’t think I’m ready yet, I was going to wait and go to a Massage Therapy College for 9 months. But, I was pressured to go to college; is it to late for me to make any changes?

From what I have seen my students experience, they are only truly happy when they are doing something they really, really enjoy. If you were only going to do Massage Therapy because it was a “quick and easy” program, I would advise against it.

You said that you were interested in writing. College is the time to explore some of those interests. Perhaps enroll in a journalism course or mass communications course. Does your college have a newspaper? Perhaps you can become a reporter (and get paid!) to write stories or columns.

You could major in English as well. However, you will be doing a lot of writing in college anyhow. With an English degree, you probably want another focus: do you want to teach elementary or high school or college? Or do you want to become a scholar and study the works of Shakespeare?

One thing I highly recommend: if you signed up to take some general education courses, make sure that they will work with whatever potential major you do choose. You didn’t mention what you were taking, but hopefully you had a good advisor who signed you up for some strong, fun courses.

It probably isn’t too late to make any changes; however, you want to make sure that you don’t ever leave a college on a bad note. If you really don’t want to be at college and want to the the massage therapy, check into what you need to do to get registered.

Best of luck to you.

I always want to learn writing formally but unfortunately I live in a small town and there’s no such major here and I already have a full time job. I cant tell what to expect from writing as I live in a different country from yours. But here, it’s kinda promising and it’s not that hard to got your work published. Set your priority, and if you’re not really sure about it, why not take a part-time course first, before you decide if you like it or not.Good Luck!

If you don’t feel that it’s right for you, there is always the option of deferring or “intermission”, where you can keep your spot, and think over whether it’s really the right place for you to be. I just started university 3 weeks ago, in a degree i don’t want to do but it’s going to get me where I need to do, though I’m still unsure. Just follow your heart and not your head, because if you do what you think is right you won’t be happy. Good luck!

The first and 2nd year in college are generally basic subjects so you have time to see, evaluate and think what interest you much. In the 3rd year that is where you pick up your major that needs concentration etc…

Expect to have fun and to be challenged. Take a diverse range of courses this semester if you’re “not sure” what you want to do. That way you can narrow down your options based on what you enjoyed etc,
