I have no friends at my college at all…zero! What can I do.?

During my freshman year of college I had plenty of friends and people to hang around with. I hung out, talked, played video games, and went to the cafe with people daily. On weekends I went out to parties and went to baseball games and had a good time for the most part. But after my freshman year I made the difficult decision to transfer colleges because I received admission at a top university. I went knowing it might be hard for a transfer student to fit in. My worst fear came true. The first few days I met some people (other transfers) but after a couple of days I realized these people weren’t right for me, and I lost touch with those few acquaintances. I joined a club, I got a job, I say hello to people in class and the hallways, I sit in the communal lounge, but with this contact i still can’t make companions who i can go out with and such. Besides the first weekend I haven’t gone out on weekends at all. I am forced to stay in my room. It’s a month into school what can I do? Help

in a top university, people are more serious about their education, and don’t go there to just socialize. so it’s not as easy to make friends, so maybe join a study group or something like that.

Continue to be brave. It was very brave of you to transfer. Just be brave and put yourself out there. Think back to freshman year, even though it was a little easier and you were around other freshman in the same situation you still had to meet new people and share some of yourself. Keep doing it. Sit with people you don’t know when you eat, hang out in your dorm not just in your room, and say more than hello to someone that interests you. Ask people in your dorm about where to party on the weekend and go. You can do this, you did it before.

Tyler sounds like you have a lot of time to study anyway.; Just kidding! If you have any hobbies you could always join a group of like minded people who share the same interests as you, you might make some friends there. Or if you are involved in any of the arts or sports then join one of these fellowships and certainly you’d make some acquantances there. Give it a try, certainly can’t hurt any.

Find advisors.

Find the Gym, Find the intramurals, find the free movies.

Find Christain groups, find the Baptists.

Find the Bowling Club.

Find the cheerleaders.

Study, study, study, make straight A’s, get of college sooner.

Join a service club. When you are doing nice things for other people you won’t be able to dwell on yourself and you’ll meet even more people with common interests.
