i cant decide my Carreer goal?

I really want to filmaker

but I really fear the risk of failing at it because it is very competetive and i feel like this will happen after going to college I wasted all that time and money to become one and not make it My family are immagrants so I want to make them proud and support them when they get older but I also want to pursue my dream. Should I go for it>? if i do I would work extremly hard since I want to do it. Even if i work that hard is it possible failing? Or should i just play it safe and do something Im not really intrested but wont kill me like something in technology or communication. Basically I want to make a lot of money doing what I love and not be some average joe.

I would say “go for it”, if that is your dream- but it is always a good idea to have a 2nd back-up skill that which you can make a living by should the other career you studied for not work out. If you really want something bad enough though & just keep at it, over & over again- it usually does eventually happen. Any area of the entertainment-field is always competitive, just keep that in mind.

If you want to go into production, the odds aren’t that bad though the work is hard, the hours are long, and you have to move to LA or maybe NYC.

If you want to be an actor, writer, or director, the hurdles are greater.

The best way to break in is to make a low budget indie film, get it into festivals, and see if you wow someone. If you can’t get a foothold at that level, it will tell you something about your chances for success in the industry.
