I would say a PhD in physics. I would say you could get your PhD precisely in Astrophysics or Biophysics.

Anything astronomy requires a PhD. it requires a lot of knowledge. Astrophysics is, I bet, the most competitive area in physics. A lot of people want to do it and there is much not demand in the field either, so jobs are scarce and hard to get.

Biophysics is still an infant field, so there is not much competition in comparison.

4 years undergraduate education in physics and biology, and a PhD (~6 years) in astrophysics or physics. But watch out – astrobiology and biophysics are NOT the same fields of study.

As much as you can get, so a Ph.D. The toys and tools of astrobiology are expensive and we don’t let just anyone play with telescopes and Mars rovers.

Judging by the “respected” guests on Art Bell’s show, I would guess you would need a high school diploma and a library card.

But if you want a job with a future and a good reputation, you probably need a Phd.

Good luck & study hard.
