How hard is med school and how smart do you have to be?

I don’t get the best grades in high school but I could if I was more motivated and interested. If you don’t have very good grades in high school is that a bad start for med school or can you fix that in college? The second question is how hard is med school once you get into it and is it worth it?

Frankly, with your lazy attitude I would never want you as my doctor. If you weren’t motivated in high school, what makes you think you’ll be motivated in college? Med School is extremely competitive and difficult.

Some of this I think you already know. Like the question about if it is worth it.

Apparently, the AVERAGE IQ of a physician is 125. A few people have higher IQs and a few lower (probably not any lower than 120, though). Go to this website for more info on SAT scores and equivalence to your IQ.

www.assessmentpsychology.com

then click on IQ

(Someone gave out this website on Yahoo Answers, and it is a great site!)

OK, my ex-husband is a physician. He also has a genius IQ, went to Johns Hopkins U undergrad, had a pretty good GPA and awesome MCAT scores, but he answered a question the wrong way during the interview, and was kept out for 5 years because of it. Once that particular liberal thinking admissions committee member got off the admissions committee, my ex got in easily. Med school is a huge grind, you have to study a lot, even if you are brilliant, since you want to be a great MD, right? My ex is a great MD. Oh, another thing–how is your manual dexterity? If not so good, don’t even think about surgery or OB, etc.

Read about Ben Carson, MD. You need a kick in the pants, and you better turn it around soon, or it will be seriously too late and you can hang it up about your med school pipedreams.

High school is more or less a vehicle to get into a good college so that you can get into a better medical school. With that being said, grades are only one aspect, another very important part is your mcat score. If you go to an average school but do well on the mcats its just as good as going to a better school. Medical school is very competitive and hard to get to. Its worth it if you’re seriously interested. You’ll know more when you get into college and start taking the classes. It also helps if you join some clubs or shadow a doctor to get the hands on experience. Of course medical school is hard, i’m going to be starting my first year in 3 weeks. I am a bit nervous but if you enjoy what you do time will pass and it’ll be worth it.

Medical school is only the beginning. Then there is residency training which is even more difficult than medical school. Is it hard? Yes. It is extremely difficult to get good enough grades in college, do well on the MCTS, get into med school, survive med school, survive residency….

Is it worth it? Hmmm. I am not sure I would do it again.

I think PA (physician assistant) is more of a 9 to 5 job with much less responsibility and not nearly as hard. Do some research on PA jobs and potential income.

2110 is a large score, congrats on your fulfillment. Alot of persons ask a number of those questions yet don’t comprehend that Graduate scientific college isn’t comparable to Undergraduate college. purely on account which you get right into a school everyday for his or her scientific college, does not propose you will get into their scientific college. in spite of the fact that a lot of human beings say you could have an more suitable hazard, I unquestionably have yet to work out a correlation between those aspects. in spite of the fact that, some faculties do furnish 7 or 8 365 days pre-med courses that’s in certainty the undergrad and grad college prepare. those courses are enormously intense as they at times have GPA standards which you will desire to shop on with. in the journey that your making plans on using for a pre-med software, you will desire to additionally evaluate your GPA, SAT 2 grades (math and a technology), Essay, and Extracurriculars. lots of the folk on your pool of applicants could have intense GPAs, of completion of a few APs, intense SAT1s, intense SAT2s contained in the sciences&math, various extracurriculars (volunteer, internship, activities), and incredible essays.

You could ultimately do it. The biggest problem you’ll face in the short term is getting into a decent college that medical schools will look at when ultimately you apply.

You need to have a 4.0 as a Microbiology major at a top University to even be considered for a medical school position.

As for how ‘hard’ med-school is ~~~ don’t plan on eating too much for those four years as your stomach will be too full of coffee ~~~ and as for sleeping ~~~ forget that entirely!!!
