How hard is med school and how smart do you have to be?

Apparently, the AVERAGE IQ of a physician is 125. A few people have higher IQs and a few lower (probably not any lower than 120, though). Go to this website for more info on SAT scores and equivalence to your IQ.

(Someone gave out this website on Yahoo Answers, and it is a great site!)
OK, my ex-husband is a physician. He also has a genius IQ, went to Johns Hopkins U undergrad, had a pretty good GPA and awesome MCAT scores, but he answered a question the wrong way during the interview, and was kept out for 5 years because of it. Once that particular liberal thinking admissions committee member got off the admissions committee, my ex got in easily. Med school is a huge grind, you have to study a lot, even if you are brilliant, since you want to be a great MD, right? My ex is a great MD. Oh, another thing–how is your manual dexterity? If not so good, don’t even think about surgery or OB, etc.
Read about Ben Carson, MD. You need a kick in the pants, and you better turn it around soon, or it will be seriously too late and you can hang it up about your med school pipedreams.
Is it worth it? Hmmm. I am not sure I would do it again.
I think PA (physician assistant) is more of a 9 to 5 job with much less responsibility and not nearly as hard. Do some research on PA jobs and potential income.
As for how ‘hard’ med-school is ~~~ don’t plan on eating too much for those four years as your stomach will be too full of coffee ~~~ and as for sleeping ~~~ forget that entirely!!!
