The Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) program assists students at participating California community colleges in transferring to UCSD. TAG students enter into a contract that specifies requirements they must satisfy at a community college and guarantees admission to the UCSD college and term of choice, but not necessarily to an oversubscribed major. Admission to highly selective majors, such as certain engineering majors, is not guaranteed.
TAG students must meet the University’s minimum admission requirements for transfer students, including completion of at least 60 transferable semester units; earn a specified minimum GPA and be in good academic standing; clear all subject omissions/deficiencies for eligibility (see page 8); complete all TAG core courses (which will clear the majority of lower-division general education requirements) with a grade of C or better; and complete additional courses as recommended by the UCSD college the student plans to enter. TAG students may apply for the fall, winter or spring quarter.
This program will be phased out and TAGs will be made available to students at any California community college by the fall 2009 application cycle. For more information, see uctransfer.org/transfer_admis_guar.html.
