The general rule for most states is that the University of XXXX is the best public school in the state, XXXX State University is the second best, “directional” schools like Northern XXXX State Unviersity are next, and BiDirectional schools like SouthEastern XXXX Stte University are at the bottom.
Florida is no exception. University of Florida is a very good public university. Florida State is not great — but is the second best public university in the state. Schools like Central Florida or South Florida fall behind them.
