There is no way to keep it from being stolen if you leave it. I doubt you could use a laptop lock, as you would have nothing to attach it to. If you need to use the bathroom put the laptop in your backpack and take it with you.

Placing passwords on your laptop would be the best way to protect your information after it has been stolen. A standard password at Windows loading is important but not perfect. A hard drive password is the best way of protecting your computer after theft. Without knowing the password you cannot even load windows.

I think bottom down leaving a computer in a middle of a desk while your gone is a bad thing even with a solution. I suggest carrying your laptop with a backpack/laptop backpack with you when u wanna go somewhere.

At UF, a lot of stuff gets stolen out of the libraries, study halls, etc. when people get up and leave their stuff unattended.

I know it is an inconvenience but I know at least a couple of dozen people who had stuff stolen while they where on campus like Ipods, TI-89’s, Laptops, Books, Cellphones, purses, wallets, etc.

My laptop has a place that a lock can be attached to and placed around a table leg. I still don’t find that it would be effective, however….as laptops are so portable, they could slip the lock off by lifting the table leg.
