First, being a college admissions officer requires a bachelor’s degree. Some schools require their admissions officers to have degrees from their schools, but most do not. You can apply for jobs as an admissions officer just as you would apply for any other administrative jobs at colleges and universities, which usually means sending a resume (and sometimes a formal application) to the HR department or the director of admissions. But, you first need to find out what schools are looking for admissions officers. You can check out the employment sections of university websites if you have certain schools or geographic areas that interest you. You can also check out the employment listings at specialized sites, such as the National Assn. for College Admission Counseling and the Chronicle of Higher Education.
