WOW sounds like you should have been thinking about that before. To have a 2.1 means you likely have some D’s on that transcript. I would suggest you go for a second major, and make sure you have nothing less than A’s in that major.

Most grad schools want at least a 3.1- And remember in grad school its 2 C’s and you are out!!

I will be honest though you it may not be an answer you want. You are not going to get into graduate school, especially in any area related to biology, with a 2.1 gpa in the short-term.

Your best bet would be to enter the work force and gain some experience. Maybe you can consider grad school in some ten years when you have some relevant life experience and admissions committees will assume you have matured.

Sorry, but good luck.

Take enough classes that you can do well in to raise the GPA. It may also depend on what grad school (and what field of study)you want to attend. Some grad schools will admit you on probationary status and tell you what grades you must then get to continue grad school.

Yeah, you’re not going to get into grad school with that. Here’s an idea – many programs (state universities, usually) will let you enroll as a non-degree student and take graduate courses. If you can do that, and pass the courses, it will tell them you’re ready to attend grad school – and they will consider your application, giving it far more attention than they would have before.

You can take additional courses and do really well in them. What kind of grad school do you want to attend? My brother, who is now a Psychiatrist, didn’t have what it took to get into med school, so he started taking microbiology courses and got a job working with a pathologist/morgue. (Not as gross as you think — he had some really good stories.) Even doing volunteer work in your chosen field will help.

Good luck!

I graduated with a 2.8 and thought I’d have to go beg to be admitted to get my graduate degree. When I spoke to somebody, they told me I could enroll in classes having “Non-degree status.” This meant I could take classes and eventually re-apply to gain graduate status, providing I did well enough, and all of my courses would count. toward my degree. I now have my graduate degree.

I would go back and take a few electives, classes you think you can do well in. This can help you increase your GPA.
