How can i qualify for in state tuition in michigan without taking a year off of school?

wayne state university
my dad lives in michigan, but i live in alabama. is there a way i can be classified as an in-state resident without taking a year off from school?
on collegeboard’s site, i found a guide to michigan’s state residency and in one quote it said:
“The domicile of a dependent student is presumed to be the same as that of the student’s natural parents. If only one natural parent is domiciled in Michigan, the student will be presumed to be a Michigan resident regardless of whether that parent is the student’s custodial parent.”
Would this qualify me as a resident? It sounds too good to be true. Is there a catch or am I not reading between the lines? Any help would be appreciated.
here’s the link to the where i found the quote:
