How are foreign degrees (such as an MBA) viewed in the U.S.?

I am considering attending a program in Japan, taught in English and accredited by MEXT (government agency). The school has a strong relationship with many great U.S. business schools (ie. Dartmouth and NYU) so I’m confident its a solid program. I want to work in Japan for awhile, but may want to eventually come back to the U.S. and want to know if companies would view this degree similarly to one obtained in the U.S.

Foreign degrees are usually not viewed as equivalent to US based degrees. However, the only thing that really matters is the accreditation of the program. If this Japanese program works with Dartmouth and NYU, perhaps they are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). This is the ‘gold standard’ in business school credibility.

It will be viewed very positively. This is a well-known, strong program. Your career path also sounds like it will have a nice component of international experience, so you should be a very employable person.
