HELP! Recommendations for college?

I need teacher recommendations for most of my choice colleges and while I’m a decent student (A’s and B’s and a GPA of 3.2) I’m also very quiet and shy. I’m not at all close with any of my teachers so how do I get the recommendations that I need? I’m a respectful student but not a standout. Please help! Thanks!

I have written recommendations for students who were quiet in class but I also have a variety of means to assess their work. I could speak about how they were consistent in attending, worked well in small groups, read the materials, and came to class prepared. Always ask that the teacher/professor send you a copy of the recommendation. You would not want someone to send a less than stellar recommendation.

I might also recommend that you write up a paragraph of what you did in that class….such as in English: I used my writing skills to assist residents of a retirement home compose letters. [Tie in your skills with your volunteer work or your job outside of school]. In this way, the teacher will know how to highlight your talents.

Do not sell yourself short, to attain your grade point average, you had to be involved in the courses. Good luck!

I’ve seen this same question about recommendations from teachers in other questions in Q&A, and I have no idea at all why people are asking that question. You don’t need a teacher’s recommendation to get into college. All you have to do is show your grades and state what major you want. Or if you belonged to some National Honor Society or got some award you can state that as well. You can get personal references from your neighbors, people you attend church with, even your pastor, people you do volunteer work for, just people you’ve known for a long time. What would help though is if say you’re interested in the teaching field if someone would say that you taught them how to use the word processor or computer or did some tutoring of any kind….anything relates to the major you want to get.

Ask the teachers who’s classes you most enjoy….especially if there is one in which you spoke more than another. Teachers expect students to ask them for recommendations. You might be surprised to find that they are happy to do them for you.

Continue to be respectful when you ask; don’t demand…ask. Be sure to give them enough time to complete the recommendations. For example, don’t ask on Friday when you need it Monday! Provide them with a sheet of information about you (grade point average; what schools you are applying to; what you plan on studying; any extra-curricular stuff you are involved in; etc). Give them a form to fill out if one is provided and any information you have that the college wants them to include. Also, give them a self-addressed stamped envelope if they have to mail it themselves. If it’s not one they have to mail, give them an envelope anyway that they can place the recommendation in.

i’m a junior too, and that i found out which you somewhat opt for instructor techniques contained in certainly one of those Letters of techniques. you will need approximately 3 of those, yet get a kind (one from a instructor, one from a activity supervisor, and one from a club/interest). in the direction of the tip of your Junior twelve months, ask the human beings to jot down a letter of advice for you. Over the summer season they are able to jot down it, after which you’re transforming into to be it the commencing up of your senior twelve months. just to permit you recognize, letters of advice are not as substantial as many different aspects. you’re able to desire to maintain a severe GPA, do properly on the SATs and ACTs, do the two in school and out of school events, do community provider, and do issues that make you shine. in case you haven’t any longer something that makes you shine (or makes you an unique person), then you definately won’t make it right into a competent college. it somewhat is a good number of artwork and it somewhat is totally stressful, so good success!
