Don’t trust any of them. On line schools will charge you a fortune for a degree you can get for so much less at the local community college. A bachelors degree is a 4 year degree and normally not a degree for someone who wants to pursue low paying administrative assistant positions. Some on line schools may boast this 4 year bachelors degree program… don’t buy it. Literally. You will have to borrow to get it, I guarantee. And your earnings will not be enough to make your student loan payments.

You might be able to find an administrative assistant certificate program or a possibly a 2 year associates degree program. Regarding being an administrative assistant to an artist… are there any artists around you? Do you know any? Have you ever seen these positions advertised in your local papers? I’m just trying to determine if this might be a local hot job, cause most of the artists I’ve heard of do that job on the side and can’t afford to hire an assistant. But I might be in a totally different country that you, but be realistic…

My advise: spend some time par-oozing the classifieds for jobs you think you would like and see what the educational requirements are. Then check the salaries.

Good Luck!

Like the above poster said, be careful not to fall for a scam or even just an unfair deal with a school. You don’t need a four-year degree to be an administrative assistant. You usually need a high school diploma and computer skills, although many students with bachelor’s degrees work as administrative assistants when they first graduate. Community colleges offer good computer courses as well as 2 year associates degrees for future administrative assistants. I think that completing a program like that can really help you get a job in the field. Do not pay a school for a 4-year degree to be an admin assistant. It’s a scam.

Check out www.baker.edu

Baker College is a traditional brick and mortar college that also has several 100% on-line programs.

The classes a quick at 6-weeks per session. They have 2 sessions per semester and 4 semesters per year.

The classes are affordable at about $185 per credit hour.

There is no on-line degree stigma associated with a degree from Baker since the degree and transcript looks just like the one they issue from the traditional brick and mortar school.

However, the programs are not a cake-walk. There is a good amount of classwork to do in order to earn a degree.

I have never heard of a BA in Administrative Assistant. With a Bachelor’s you ought to be the boss, not the assistant. If you do pursue an online degree, make sure it is from an accredited place. If it is not, it is useless. They are contacting you because they are desperate. Your local University or community college will definetely have at least a few online classes.
