I recommend looking at CollegeBoard’s website. They let you chose up to 3 universities at a time to compare. It sets up a matrix, which will let you compare location (based on city, state and region); Type (public vs private and religious affliation if there is one); Campus Life (setting of campus, and undergraduate enrollment); Admissions (percent accepted, application requirements, average SAT and ACT scores); and Cost & FinAid (Total tutition (in state and out) and Room and Board).
It is not comprehensive or exhaustive, but it is a good way to narrow down schools if you already have some in mind. Also, if you think you like one school but want to see another with similar qualities it will search for you.
Also it can recommend colleges based on major.
