Good piloting college?
Favorite Answer
You better have a lot of $$$ to go to a piloting college though, it’s VERY steep. Books and tuition are very high, plus you have to pay a lot of money for your flight time as well, which is a requirement to graduate.
Embry Riddle Aeronautical University is considered to be the “Harvard of flight schools”. According to their catalog, 25% of all freight and airline pilots world wide went to ERAU.
The main campus is in Daytona Beach, FL, and there is another campus in Prescott, AZ. In addition, they have centers all around the world where classes are offered, usually near US military installations. They award bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in every conceivable subject having to do with aviation.
Be prepared to fork out a TON of money. My son transferred as a junior and still had $125,000 in student loans when he graduated with a degree in aeronautical science (airline pilot concentration). The requirements for the degree include pilot ratings through multiengine. Consider it costs the student approximately $120 every time they fly, so it adds up fast.
If you decide to move to CA around Brea, you will probably end up taking flying lessons at a general aviation flight school at a local airfield. You won’t learn nearly as much as you would with the strong academics at ERAU, and it would likely take you longer.
