Does any one attend (or used to attend) The Unitversity of Miami?

I’m looking at colleges and Miami sounds pretty cool. I want to study Architecture. Can you tell me about University of Miami? Do you know how the study abroad program is?

Hello, the School of Architecture has made leaps and bounds to their program within the past 4 years. It was great then, and even better now. Definitely check out the School of Architecture website at www.arc.miami.edu. There, you can find all of the program’s information in addition to study abroad information respective to the architecture curricula. I don’t know the particulars about the School of Architecture, but I did attend UM and have graduated within the past 5 years.

I did not have the opportunity to Study Abroad as my academic courseload did not allow for it, however I have many friends that did study abroad and have loved every part of it. Read the recent (within the past year) article regarding their Study Abroad program in their “Miami” magazine. You can access it here: http://www6.miami.edu/miami-magazine/fall06/featurestory4.html

If you click on the below link, it will take you to a picture of the new Architecture building.

The caption to the picture is below:

The School of Architecture has dedicated its new building, the 8,600-square-foot Jorge M. Perez Architecture Center. The majestic modern-yet-classical structure encompasses three major spaces: the Stanley and Jewell Glasgow Lecture Hall; the Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker Classroom; and an exhibition gallery that will showcase juried work of students and professionals. Signature elements are an octagonal lantern above the lecture hall, a stepped tower above the stairwell, a colonnade, and an arched portico serving as a ceremonial entrance facing Dickinson Drive.

In my years at the university, there is something for everyone. Many universities tout this claim, though I can throughly say that there are numerous opportunities avaliable should you elect to engage in them. I’m not sure where you live, but contact the university to inquire about any local or region alumni groups in your area. This way you’ll be able to network and talk first hand with someone that has attended UM. I hope this helps and best of luck with your college decision!
