Do you really need to dorm for that “college experience”?
I want to stay and live at home.. because of responsibilities I have for my family…
and yet I’d want to go out and explore.. but is there really much to explore?

I decided to stay at home instead of living in the dorms, and it was the best thing for me to do. I still partied and went out all the time, I just lived at home. Dude it is free!!! Who doesn’t want home cooked meals, free rent, laundry service and a quite place to sleep. Everyone I know who lived in dorms hated it and moved out as fast as possible. I totally recommend living at home.

The only thing that’s different is that at home you will still be treated like a kid (like someone else said – free rent, laundry done, free cable TV, no renter’s insurance, no running out of food, no running out of heat, etc etc.) It’s not real life. On the other hand, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy real life and the fun of bills. Enjoy being at home just that much longer. Especially if it’s for family obligations. That’s noble.
And Meg is moron.

Depends on your personality. If you’re outgoing already, then no. But if you have trouble making friends, it might be a good idea. For me personally, I had a great college experience and never stepped foot in a dorm room. Sharing my quarters, kitchen, and showers with others? No thanks!

I would say yes because you have to live it and experience yourself you can always find away to go home but you must know how to live without the security net.
