yes, usually most high schools have students meet with their counselors and talk about college and my school and some others hold seminars for juniors/seniors to learn more about colleges and the process of applying and how the atmosphere is in college..

also in michigan, many school districts allow students to take college classes in a local community college, which the school pays for, leaving the student to buy the books and it really helps get the students prepared to face college work….

also some schools allow students to take AP classes where the amount of work and level of the class is that of a college class, students taking these classes can take a test at the end of the year and earn college credit…

Many schools encourage you to apply during senior year. But if you haven’t applied by then, it’s probably too late.

Unfortunately, you are rarely prepared for what to expect and how to cope. The study skills for college must be developed in 5th or 6th grade, then practiced!

COlleges do have Freshman Orientation and maybe some helpful info to get you in the swing of things.

Your better off doing research on your own and reading the posts here at Answers than depending on the highschool!

The counselors did inform me. Senior year we were pounded with information– notices and signs were everywhere. The seniors had a ‘seniors counselor.’ If you don’t, you should just go talk to the counselor at your school. Or, you can talk to reps from the schools you are interested in. If the information doesn’t look for you, then you for looking for it!
