Do some law schools really kick out the bottom third of the class each year?

My buddy told me some do this, including one he went to (he got kicked out) and the one I’m thinking of going to does it too. Is this true? It seems rather harsh and unnecessary.

All schools are different.

Many who try and portray themselves as ‘elite’ and like that status have a ‘weed out’ system.

They can try and make you quit or set a hard to maintain GPA for the school. I am sure it happens, as I have seen this in action at Georgia Tech at the undergraduate level. They have stringent admission standards, but then do some more screening to really make sure that only the best represent them by carrying their diplomas.
