Do I need a recommendation with my college application?

The college I’m applying to doesn’t require the recommedations but will consider them if you send them. However, I’m applying online and there is no section for it. What should I do? If I don’t send it, will it hurt my chances even though it’s not a requirement? Help please.

If a college doesn’t require recommendation letters then they’re not going to use them for or against you. If you’re applying online and there’s no space for them then it’s probably not that big of a deal. If you really want them to be considered then do the application by hand and snail-mail it in.

it really depends on your grades and if you’ve met their pre-requisites. i wouldn’t worry about if if its not required so long as you’ve met all other requirements. however, if you feel that it would help you out it wouldn’t hurt. Also, if you wanted to maybe explain to personal circumstance that perhaps lowered grade in a class, you could send in a paper app. with a personal statement included too.

ultimately it’s up to you and how you feel about it. but as someone told a long time ago, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. have a back up choice. just in case.

You can still have your recommendations sent with a cover letter to ask them to include it in your file. I would use community leaders, church leaders, school administrators, and even any employers you have had. I would also ask for a letter every time you leave a job to add to your “collection.”
