Yes, but it is good to have your scores within their average ranges. The average scores represent a median of their students scores — 50% of the students admitted into that university scored within that range. So, that means that 25% of the students they admit have scores less than the average range. It also means that 25% of the students they admit score higher than those ranges.

You have had some good answers! Maybe this will help. The lower your SAT scores the higher your college work load. You usually will be required to take a placement test to see if you need remedial courses in math, english and the social sciences-usually math and english. This means you would take three extra math courses BEFORE being able to take college algebra. These would be begining algebra, intermediate algebra and pre-college algebra courses. These courses (and any other remedial course work) will not count as college credit toward a degree but are required before you can take the college required course work in that field. You can start courses in other fields while you are taking the remedial courses-say, Public Speaking, History, etc.

Your best course of action is to start in a Community or “Junior” College. They would see that you meet all the requirement for you core subjects (including remedial courses) and get you into the college life style and system. Once you have met the core requirements you can transfer to a 4 year school.

Good luck, keep plugging away at your goal.

Well, yes. The “average student range” is the middle 50%, or the 25% to the 75%. 25% of the people attending a school have scores lower than the bottom number on the average range (but keep in mind that it would be difficult to gain admission if you aren’t in the average range).

It depends what college your trying to get into.

I’m assuming that if it’s a top-notch school then you are required to have a good score.

If it’s a local college or university, most will accept you, you’ll just have to take a non-credit math and english class in place of not having a high enough score. It sucks (because you have to go thru a whole semester but it’s only pass or fail and you don’t get credit for it.) Try to check with your soon to be school’s admissions, they’ll let you know what you need to do.

So you’ll be ok. =)

Absolutely! They usually report their 25%-75% range SAT scores. That means 25% of the students attending the school have scores below that range!!

maximum (examine: extraordinarily lots all) colleges will look at your SAT score (and colleges that may not care approximately your score are community colleges), besides as your extreme college grades. the magnitude of the SAT is for shifting into college (it tests the aspects of extreme examining, math, and writing). the colleges use your attempt scores to verify how stable you’re on the three aspects I listed, so as that they are able to % in case you have the tutorial skills to succeed on the college. You often take the attempt sometime in the spring of your junior one year. while you’re no longer delighted along with your scores, you could retake the attempt (yet i ought to tell you, it may be better to start interpreting for the attempt in the previous you even take it the 1st time) in the autumn of your senior one year. And if the SAT would not cut back it for you, there is yet another attempt you could take noted as the ACT (which serves the comparable objective because of the fact the SAT; you could the two take the SAT, the ACT, or the two). colleges will only evaluate your superb scores universal, regardless of attempt (SAT or ACT) your superb scores got here from. As a area observe, colleges evaluate a ton of components while determining whether you would be admitted. the main extreme components are grades, subject of training (for sure, getting stable grades in honors or college point training whilst you’re in extreme college will help your utility lots), and your standardized attempt scores from the SAT Reasoning attempt or the ACT. Your essay can be of a ton of magnitude. different much less substantial components are pastime adventure, volunteer adventure, extracurricular events, awards, classification rank,(granted, this type of figures in along with your grades), minority status, concepts, interviews, kinfolk legacy of attending the college, and SAT concern attempt scores (to no longer be at a loss for words with the SAT Reasoning attempt–2-3 of those tests are often cautioned or required by way of universities for admission; you could take them in distinctive aspects like historic past, English, math, technological information, and distant places languages. no longer all colleges use them.).

the above answers said a lot of good info but also remember colleges look at essays and your volunteer work. they want to produce the best alumni possible and if it looks like you’re a hard worker they are more likely to ignore lower test scores. also..you can always retake the sat

Yes, not all but a lot of them will let you in on Academic probation. If you live on Campus you normally will have a curfew, you will most likely have to meet with your “counselor” and once you prove that you are going to succeed they loosen up the reigns.

oh and you will probably be forced to take a study skills class or something of that nature.
