Residency status is NOT required to attend California community colleges. However, tuition will cost MUCH more if you haven’t lived in California for at least a year and a day. Residents who are taking a typical three-unit class are charged $39 in unit fees. Nonresidents (and people who recently moved to the state) are charged $360. International students are charged slightly more: $393 for the same class.
These numbers do not include textbooks, class supplies, parking fees, or other mandatory fees — just the cost of signing up for one class.

Check with the financial aid advisor at that college and with the office of the Dean of Students to see what are the requirements to go there.
