Maybe you should mention that – not in a “don’t know, don’t care” offhand-manner, but in a “there are so many possibilities, it’s going to take some time for me to decide” way.

If you tell them in your essay, that you don’t know exactly HOW you’ll be involved, but you’re looking forward to finding out, that might work. Also, look into activities that would suit you (sports? drama? volunteer activity?) and mention those as possibilities if you like. (Maybe mention WHY these are great options for you — because you were the star swimmer in highschool or the lead in the fall play…you know– that kind of thing, tailored to YOUR experience.)

You don’t need to say you’ll be involved in EVERYTHING (even they have to know that’s not feasible), but you should probably say you’re interested in these two or four things in particular, and you don’t KNOW yet.

There’s plenty of things that you could say. Since MSU is heavily influenced on athletics, say how you’ll attend the football and basketball games and be in the student section in the first row with your war paint on. If you plan to do sports, tell about that or even how you plan to join an intramural team. You could say how you’re thinking to join a sorority, the student senate (if they have one), student government, various clubs. Just do research on those. Once you have a list of activities like that, just sugarcoat it around MSU and sound excited about it. They just want to make sure you’re going to be proud going to their school.
