College Double Major?

I’m thinking of doing a double major in Economics and Political Science to become a Corporate Attorney. However, I don’t know if they compliment each other well enough and I would like any opinions on other majors for law. I also want to know how much sacrifice is needed to double major because I know it’s alot of work. I’ve taken five AP classes, so will that help lighten the load?

A double major is ambitious and combining Econ with Polisci makes sense. There will be several courses that can satisfy both majors. But if you do well in either Econ or Polisci alone, you can make it to law school. You can major in anything and still apply to law school as long as your GPA and LSAT scores are good. Your AP classes might satisfy some intro college classes, but there is no way AP can substitute for the higher level classes you will need for either Econ or Polisci.

I have a double major in Psychology and Spanish with a minor in Childhood Development. This is my 3rd year at uni. Double majors are difficult, but well worth it in the end. Just know that you cannot take them lightly and that one less than stellar grade in one class can keep you in school longer. It’s difficult, requires quite a bit of dedication, but it’s worth it. When it’s your first year, don’t take a bunch of difficult classes because you want to have a stable launch pad to build from. So many people make that mistake. Try to sign your major in the middle/end of your first year. Things will be clearer to you then.
