college admissions essay?
it asks for personal information and any hardships youve had to face. Is it ok to include hardships that you’ve had with drugs (mainly alcohol and marijuana)? I went through a severe depression and derealization after stopping those things and I’ve come out to be more optimistic about life and more hard-working after going through those things. Is that acceptable to put into a college admissions essay?

If youre okay with telling about it! I would talk about something less self-inducive, like a hardship that you couldnt control but you were determined enough to keep trying. It’s all up to you! I wrote about my parents divorce and that turned out well.. Good luck!

it depends on what school you’re applying to. consider berkeley or nyu, they’d probably really like this kind of topic since the adcoms are known to be pretty liberal.
for more conservative oriented schools like the ivys, it probably wouldn’t be such a good idea lol.
