Can I get into temple university with a 2.8 GPA?

my SAT score was 1460 out 2400, im taking it again. I’ve studied so much this summer so it has to go up to like 1580 maybe 1600 if im lucky. im going to work hard my senior year but does it even count in admission to college? Temple and buffalo university are my top choices. my major at temple is going to be nursing.

I have to 2 back ups, lock haven university and Alfred state.

I volunteer in a hospital and i work in nursing home.

According to their admissions page, they are looking for a B average, with a 3.0 range in college-prep courses. In other words, if you took things like home ec or shop and did poorly on them, but did well on English, math, and history, you would be fine, but of course for most people it is the other way around. As far as SAT, they want 500-600 on both critical reading and math – they don’t mention the writing section, so they may not count it. Back when I taught there, Temple was an open admissions school, which meant that if you graduated from high school, you could get in, but they had too many applicants, so they set limits. You aren’t too far off, and if you could get your SATs up to where you really want them, you might be okay. It’s a good school, so good luck!

Universities look at many different criteria including your grades, SAT scores, extra curricula activities, volunteer work, letters of references, your application/essay and your interview. The other big area is your area of study. Nurses are in high demand.

I suggest that you contact the colleges you wish to go to. Ask to talk to an admissions counselor to see what the school looks at specifically. Ask the counselor what are some things that might help you stand out.

Take a DEEP breath. 2.8 is a good GPA. You even have a whole school year to bring it up to 3.0 or a little higher.

Good Luck! You can do it!

2.8 isn’t that bad. A big thing would be to have some extra activities included on your resume. Volunteer work also gives a big advantage. Don’t worry though because getting a degree in nursing anywhere would be good. The demand is high and most places aren’t looking at where you studied your skill but that you are certified. Good luck!

Well, your senior year doesn’t really count, pretty much if you don’t fail every class you are taking senior year, colleges won’t even look at it.

I’ve never heard of temple university, but one thing’s for sure. Any student with any GPA can get into any school if he shows he is unique in a certain way.

I would say right now they’d put you on a waiting list instead of accepting. Temple is a very good school and I think you would have to get at least a 3.0gpa and 1600 or more on your SATs. Colleges do look at senior year if they request to.

Bulahz you’re an idiot. No 2.8 isn’t the best but SAT scores do alot for your acceptance. Your involvment with the hospital won’t hurt either. You never know…good luck.
