Become a college professor or Principal?
Favorite Answer
Being a principle might require a masters in education.
The pay is competitive and the pension and benefits are the things that make these professions attractive.
Professor salaries vary widely depending on field of study and how much your grant money brings in.
If you plan on being a teacher then going the principle route will be the easier of the two paths.
In order for you to become a principal, you will need at least a masters degree.
In order to become a college professor, you will need a masters and a phd… in other words another 6 more years of school (if you do it full time).
Be aware that both positions come after many years of work, not just 2.
If you become a full time college professor (after having been a teaching assistant, an assistant professor, and a lecturer for a few years) you can see pay from 60,000-120,000 depending on the school you teach.
A principal usually varies around 40000-70000 depending on the school as well.
