Average age for Medical School?

I have a BA in Psychology, one year of MA completed in Military Psychology (studies completed in Europe), and for the last 2 years I worked in the US in the field of HR-Benefits. I would like to change my career and I am interested in Medical School, than I would like to specialize in Psychiatry. I am 27, and I wonder if I am too old for such a career change?

According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, the mean age of a med school applicant is 24.

I was 51 when I decided to go to med school. I had people in my class who were in their 30’s and 40’s. I also had a brainiac who wasn’t even old enough to drive himself to school!

There is no such thing as too old (lets be frank for a minute unless your are over the age of 60 you go for it) for a career change to medical school. They are seeking Non-traditional students that are mature and well-rounded. You seem to have a good head on your shoulder so, go head girl fufill your dream. Good Luck

You are not too old for college. You have spent your time doing worthwhile things and that is what medical schools want to see when there is a gap in your education. Go for it if it is what you want to do.
