any tips for studying for distance ed. courses?
hey, I’m taking a Native Studies course from home this semester while I work full time, and I was wondering if anyone has ever done this kind of coursework and has any tips on studying, note-taking, time management, etc? Also, I know it varies between profs, but how in-depth was the material you had to know? It just feels like there’s SO much reading, I don’t know what to skim over and what to make sure I have down (ex. dates, people groups, etc)

No way to answer this as it’s always class/instructor specific. Best advice I can give you is nothing out of the ordinary: keep up and make sure you don’t fall behind as it’s really easy to put off doing online coursework. Sometimes it helps to set aside regular time slots in the week just as if you were attending a class. This forces you into doing the material, else you might find in the midpoint of the semester you’re really only putting in something like an hour per week for the class, which is less than even a lecture session.
