It is best if he meets with the career counselor at your college. They can offer him a lot of insight based on the discussions they have and the assessments he may take. Also it is a good idea for him to learn more about various fields in general. It would be good for him to talk to adults he knows about what they do. With over 22k occupations that exist, one can never do enough research. www.bls.gov/oco/ is a great site to read about various careers. He can take a career path test (some available online). These tests ask questions about goals, interests, etc., and then provides a list of careers he may be interested in.
