Who is this guy?

My professor asked us to identify the man in the picture (click the link to see the picture). He is a political figure from the midwest who come about during the early 20th century. If you can help me figure out who he is, that would be great.

It’s Robert “Fighting Bob” La Follette Sr. who was a US Congressman, Senator and governor from Wisconsin in the early 1900’s. La Follette was a champion of progressive politics and policies. Progressivism made great strides under American presidents Theodore Roosevelt, William H. Taft, Woodrow Wilson, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and La Follette founded his own Progressive Party in 1924; the same year he ran for president & captured 17% of the popular vote.

The Progressive Party was one of the last great third party affiliations in this country. Progressivism historically advocates the advancement of workers’ rights and social justice. The progressives were early proponents of anti-trust laws and the regulation of large corporations and monopolies, as well as government-funded environmentalism and the creation of National Parks and Wildlife Refuges.

Check out the links for more info on Fighting Bob and/or Progressivism (and for a site with the same pic that your professor posted).
