When someone is going into a coma and the brain is swelling, why can’t they cool it or ice it to stop the swel

You can ice a swollen joint, a buise, or a bump to bring the swelling down. why when a person starts slipping into a coma and or the brain starts to swell they can’t figure out how to chill it without damage?

Because brain tissue has such a high content of water that the formation of ice would magnify the damage even more.

Controlled hypothermia has been tried, ask the doctors about this.
