What is the TRUE history of California’s origin? Was this state really taken from the Mexican people?

The Spanish then came and claimed it as theirs. The priests then exploited the indians that were here.
When Mexico became independent, the state was part of mexico.
Then, a bunch of white US immigrants became unhappy with Mexican rule in Texas, so they decided to rebel. They built a fort and declared Texas a separate country. The US government exploited this as an opportunity to get more land (Remember Mnifest Destiny?), and so declared war on Mexico, which then lost it.
As part of the winnings, Mexico had to turn over all the land that is now the states of California, Nevada, Utah, and parts of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Wyoming for a pittance.
There you have it. Not only was California part of Mexico and the Spanish Empire, but it also belonged to nobody but the people who lived with the land, before there was talk of coming and saying “This is mine now.”
I bet you never knew so many people where wiped out right? I see in history when other wars killed people they are called people but whern they refer to this war which wiped out a whole race of people they are called indians. Like it explains why they where killed, murdered, slaughtered. No one acknowledges that they lived in United States.
