“the planet is in peril”?

This is what I see on TV. Question, is it the planet that is in peril, or the human race”?

What with continental drift, earthquakes, the rearing up of rocks into mountain ranges and volcanic activity, the planet is susceptible to greater change than the whole of mankind could bring about if it acted in concert. The very idea of the planet being imperilled by mankind is a colossal and ludicrous conceit.

Man may well destroy himself along with the biosphere; but the planet itself would be no more aware of the fact than a dog is aware of the death of a flea on its back.

The Planet isn’t in “Peril” more than the human race. The world is going to be here no matter what people do to it, what people don’t realize is that it’s the state of the world that affects humanity, but it’s humanity that affects the state of the world. The Earth will be here in a billion years will humanity? Probably not, but by that time trees will grow back, new species will populate, the carbon in the atmosphere will dissipate, and whatever other effects humanity has had on the world will be rectified. Only after our extinction of course. It sucks but its the only logical solution. We caused all the planets problems, so it stands to reason that when we’re gone it will fix itself.

What?
The us of a is mostly in order, but the world will be “down the drain” in about 2030, thats how i see it, there is this thing about jellyfish mutiplying into the thousands to the quintillions, and how killing them makes hundreds more so…

Both is right, but both are pretty resilient.

It would take alot to wipe out humans. But maybe not much to put us in a dire position.
