how many people are there named jimmy in the world? not james but jimmy as their legal first name??
Favorite Answer
between 1907 and 2007, Jimmy was always one of the 1000 most popular names. Ranked number 429 in 1907, it dropped as low as 478th in 1914, but then began a steady climb. Jimmy ranked 250th in 1924 when Jimmy Carter was born and climbed to its highest ranking, 40th, in 1944. After 1978 it was never as high again as 100th, and Jimmy was down to 325th in 2006.
A separate listing on the SSA site will allow you to enter the year, after which it will tell you how many Jimmys there were. For example, there were 972 in 2006, 1360 in 1996, 1818 in 1986, 2501 in 1976, 4235 in 1966, 5338 in 1956, 7138 in 1946, 4209 in 1936, 886 in 1926, 174 in 1926, and 43 in 1906. Using a Simpson’s Law integration, that is about 278,323 births in the United States in the last 100 years. Some of these have died, but the number is better than it might be, because the oldest Jimmys were the fewest to begin with. Not counted are about 500 born in 2007 together with those from the rest of the English-speaking world.
