If you were to make a written report it would best to write about a subject which you are familiar with.
And when putting it down into writing, divide it into parts such as: Introduction, Objective, Report Proper (Where you discuss your topic), Reaction & Recommendations.

Write a formal report on the signing of the EU agreement, due any day now. What about one on the vexing problem of the McCanns. Try one on the possible outcome of the England v South Africa rugby final. Look at your newspaper and there are many subjects there for you to alight on.
