Can anyone help me with this one?

During a cruise, Mike wants to maintain his exercise schedule. He learns that on the ship’s track, 3 laps is 5/8 of a mile. If Mike wants to run 3 miles, how many laps does he need to run? (Give answer in full laps.)

He needs to run 24/8 to equal three miles, so he needs to that means he needs to do the 5/8 five times to run far enough, which would be 15 laps. Weird way to figure it out probably, but it is how my brain works. Hope it helps.

This is easy.

3 laps = 5/8 mile

3 divided by 5/8 is

24/8 divided by 5/8 = 24/5 = 4 4/5

Then multiply this by 3 ( as three laps = 5/8 miles)

24/5 x 3 = 72/5 = 14 2/5 laps.

I took 5/8 divided by 3 to get the one lap distance.

that equals 5/24 which = .2083 miles/lap

3miles divided by .2083 miles/lap = 14.4 laps
