Why can’t they bore more than one hole to the dying miners at a time?

I look out my front porch, and I can see 20 (easily) gas wells being bored into the barton Shale — why couldn’t a few of those be used to bore holes into the coal mines in Utah — to save a life or two?

Because drilling more than one hole at a time is a sure way to kill them…the mine is unstable already, they drill according to geological studies already done. If they drill more than one at a time, they can easily collapse the entire thing and kill the miners.

Yes, several holes can be drilled into an area, but they are generally drilled at different times…and they generally don’t need to intersect in areas large enough to get rescue equipment and people in and out.

The mountain is unstable, Drilling more than one hole, or random drilling could cause the entire thing to collapse and if the miners are there they would certainly die in the rubble.
