it depends on what supplies you are talking about…in our district, the school has a budget for supplies like copy paper, art paper, staplers, etc…also for school books.

as a classroom teacher, i pay for pretty much everything else. all of my students come from low incomes (most live in the projects) so i also end up buying whatever school supplies they cannot afford.

we are given 100 bucks for school related purchases, but i probably spend close to 500 per year. some of the teachers just go without, but honestly i don’t mind spending it over the course of a year, if making sure my kids have pencils and art supplies and notebooks keeps me sane.

Like the previous poster, our district supplies the copy paper and the dry erase markers. Students supply their own writing paper, pens, pencils, calculators etc. As teacher we supply everything that didn’t make it that students still need.

We have a long list (probably 50) of suppliers that we are able to order from.
