What should an objective on a resume include?
Favorite Answer
I have been hiring people for 20 years. The objective statement is a joke, and mostly can get you into trouble.
We know that your objective is to get the job you are applying for, or you wouldn’t be there. We will ask you questions in an interview to determine if your short and long term goals work for us.
I have many times not called an applicant back because of his/her objective statement. I can’t remember ever calling someone because of their objective statement.
The real question, when writing a resume, is: What do you want to say about yourself?
Always tailor your resume to fit a single job. Be prepared to modify your resume each and every time you apply for a job–you want your resume to represent a person who really wants THAT job, not just any job that may be similar.
So many times, I have seen a resume from someone that forgot to change an objective that was tailored for another job!!!
OBJECTIVE:
To secure a position utilizing my training and experience which will offer growth,
Increasing responsibility and advancement opportunities.
