The role of a teacher is to shape and mould the world of tomorrow, teach them all they need to know and prepare them for the real world.

Yes I think they have been restricted from doing their best. There is now so much paperwork involved with taking students on field trips or camps that many teachers no longer bother. Camps and excursions are not just fun but educating too. Thjey teach you to interact with people outside of school and to get along with people for a longer period of time (i.e overnight). Also teachers are not allowed to hug their students? What the heck is with that? Sometimes a child is upset or crying and what can a teacher do? Just stand there? I am 14 and even now sometimes I can get upset at school and it’s nice to have someone their to comfort you. In many ways a teacher is like a parent. They discipline us, look after us and keep us safe. So why shouldn’t they be able to hug and comfort us? A teacher needs to be a teacher, parent, and friend all rolled into one but there are so many restrictions put on them now that to be the last two is near impossible.

My very basic role in the classroom is to impart knowlege. I must also be a role model for my students by giving, showing, and teaching respect.

As far as being restricted—sometimes it feels like we are restricted in what we can teach because of all the testing to which are students are subjected. Many times, schools are “teaching to the test” rather than trying to open up a student’s mind and teach them a broader range of information or more abstract concepts.

A lot of teaching and restrictions have to do with the district and the state. My feelings and beliefs may be different from someone who’s district is more flush with money.

The role of a teacher is to be the source of knowledge and to constantly study their subject in order to have as much and the most up to date information.

I feel that teachers are most restricted in that people assume that they’re constantly on the clock. For example, there was an art teacher a few years back that got fired for having a strange hobby of painting with his genitals. He never told any of his students about this hobby, did it in his own studio and sold his work in his circle of alternative artists where it went for a pretty penny. A parent accidently found out and the teacher was fired because he was deemed unfit to work with children. Also, if a student accuses a teacher of sexual misconduct, that teacher’s career is as good as finished before any hearing takes place. I know a lot of young people in college that chose not to become teachers because of such violations of teachers’ basic human rights.

The role of the teacher is to be a facilitator of knowledge. That means that the students are the one’s doing the work.

Some time teachers are restricted. Such as you can only teach from this curriculum. Some teachers have to teach the same exact thing at the same exact time.

As Salam

There is much work needed in allot of schools so the children can be all they can be. If your individual you should be treated as individual and if your with special needs well then its good for them to have more than someone that is accelerated. There is alot of great schools and very good systems in place. And these days you see the much progress surely the kids are smarter than most adults haha

Sorry I know the children are inocent so Al hamoudllah.

The role of the teacher is to educate our young people effectively. unfortunately they can’t always do that with the resources that are offered, people want the best education for their kids, yet are unwilling to pony up for better school supplies. I feel for teachers, having to deal with ungrateful students, and on top of that trying to teach them with substandard equipment

the role of a teacher should be to teach knowledge but more HOW TO THINK.

what they really do is be the gestapo and just discipline students and make them feel like they are in prision with bad teaching methods and drug dogs. this leads to an enviroment where learning is impossible.

No, I think that they (we) are expected to do our best in whatever circumstances are available to us.
