Do an environmental study – you can look for species distribution over various areas. it could be simply a quantitative study –

How many of a species are in different areas, and what is your hypothesis as to why there is a difference? The species could be insect, plant, reptile… whatever is local to you.

good luck

How about a “Rube Goldberg Machine” you know the ones where you have to do a simple task in as many steps as possible. Its a good way to learn engineering, physics and mechanics.

OR divide the class into teams and give each team an identical box of stuff and then set them a task that they have to build from the box of stuff.

OR give them popcycle sticks, spagetti and have the buld the strongest bridge they can.

I do the following activity with my AP students. It is called the Yellow Submarine. Students must make a “submarine” that floats, sinks and floats again. It must be yellow in color. That is about all the instruction I give them. I have a rubric and a story about a Russian submarine disaster that I tie in, but essentially the project is about density and buoyancy.

Being gifted is suppose to mean your smarter, so why can’t you think up a project on your own? Oh, I get it…you are smarter, you want other people to do the work for you. You’ll make a great CEO someday, lol.
