look out sunshine.
I’ve been taking Spanish for 9 yrs. as a second language, and it is really cool. I now know a lot more about certain customs, and i can talk to all different types of people!!

I’m not entirely fluent (i can carry on a steady convorsation about most subjects) but, I’m still learning. I really wouldn’t clasify myself as bilingual but, being able to speak 2 languages rocks!!

Being bilingual has helped me so much. I had the opportunity to study in Germany for a semester in college, and while I could have studied abroad in an English-speaking country, I feel I gained so much more confidence in myself by stepping out of my comfort zone and having to learn another language and cultural norms.

Aside from that, learning German helped me immensely in learning English grammar. I never had an English teacher who taught us the different parts of speech, so when I had to diagram sentences in high school, the only reason I knew some of the parts of speech was because I had learned about them in my German class. An unintended benefit, maybe, but it helped me!

I’m jealous. I wish I was fully bilingual. I’m only a beginner to intermediate in Spanish. (Couldn’t pass the praxis exam)

Hopefully bilingual people know how to spell and use grammar. What’s less than monolingual I wonder? Fractolingual?

Yes, that makes sense. You are fractolingual.

I agree.

My first language is German and I feel very blessed by my linguistic talent.

I am not only bi-lingual, but also bi-cultural, bi-continental, etc.

🙂
