What are some good study games?

I’m looking for some creative way to help my 8th-grade science students study for a test on genetics they have on Wednesday. Do you know some from being a teacher? Can you think of study games you adored when you were younger?

Thanks in advance!

I use Jeopardy for a review day. Divide your class into groups of 4 to 5 each. I put a grid on my board and put the questions into 5 categories. One of the categories is always Trivia, crazy questions that have nothing to do with the subject.

Let each group choose a question, and erase the board for that question as you go.

I do a final jeopardy with a more challenging question at the end.

If a group does not get a question right, I don’t let another group get a chance at it, because the scores become very lopsided.

I have Juniors and Seniors and they love reviewing this way.

Play version of Balderdash or Jeopardy.

For this have the sstudents write right their answers, as right there questions, inference questions and opinion questions. Before answereing the question they must id the question type they are answering. Divide the students into groups, the group with the best answers wins. If a group gets a question answer wrong it automatically defaults to the next group(s) in line. The students love the game and it teaches them how to write and answer questions of different types.
