Tutors in HS?

Is someone considered stupid to have to have a tutor in order to learn certain subjects? If a highschooler has a tutor does he/she usually have 1 or 2 or more? How abnormal is it to have one? Do you get tutors for each subject you don’t understand in class (or homework)? Why would someone get a tutor in the 1st place? By that I mean what has to happen for most people to want a tutor? Idk just inform me on the background of tutors please.

If your parents can afford tutor(s), then go for it. You might just end up an A-1 student. It is not abnormal.

Seems like you would have a tutor if you want to do better with your work. Some people might study together. Some might get help from a relative. If you decide that you want to do better, or a particular subject gives you trouble, then a tutor would be a good choice, because this person is determined to have the understanding and knowledge of the subject in order to explain it to the student, so that the student can get a better working knowledge of it. If you decide to get a tutor, be sure that you feel comfortable with the person. Be sure they have satisfied students that you can talk to, and ask what this tutor is like, and whether using this person helped them with the work, or with grades. Check into their qualifications. Keep in mind that, in college, people sometimes go to higher level students within the department to get help with studies. In college, of course, you are paying money to take the classes. You also have the intensions of getting high scores in order to secure a good job. In high school, you may not be paying huge dollars (other than tax money) for the classes, but it is important to do your very best, so that your transcripts reflect your best work. Because not everyone learns in the same way, a tutor may be very helpful, because this is one-on-one work. In a classroom, there may not be as much time to ask pertinant questions, and some people may feel apprehensive to ask questions. Additionally, sometimes students feel that certain teachers don’t explain things as well as they think the teacher should. In theory, the teacher should be good at all the things that are expected. But, that may not always be the case. A tutor can help the student see what areas he or she should put more emphasis on, as far as studying for tests. The tutor may be able to see areas where the student needs to work harder, or maintain more focus. I don’t think anyone should be considered “stupid”, to request the assistance of a tutor. In fact, that person is probably pretty smart, if they realize that a little additional help could benefit them, in the long run. There is nothing wrong with asking for help, and then using it to your best interest and benefit. As far as how many tutors a person would need, or what subjects, that may be a good question to ask the counselling office, as they would have more complete information on the subject. Another option to consider, would be an upper classman who has received excellent grades in the subject. The downfall of this, is that just because someone has worked for good grades does not mean they are good at explaining it to someone else.
