TEACHERS! How much do you spend on your classroom per year?
Favorite Answer
Since it was my first year, I bought more than I needed to make sure that I had everything. What you buy will depend on your situation. Some schools will provide you with many materials. Some won’t. You have to go by what you are provided with, and what your students may need, especially if you teach in an area where the kids are very poor and can’t supply the basics for themselves. (Always have extra pencils, crayons, scissors, glue, noteboks, etc. on hand.)
Now I spend about $200 at the start of the year, and maybe around $40 per month, or so. A lot of it is on materials, again, stuff for the class. Monthly $20 subscription to online German tv service, blank CDs, printer ink, goodies for the kids, misc stuff I need to do my job effectively. Here’s a good example, I needed to run out and buy a few pkgs of dixie cups today, so we can practice the guttural-r sound with gargling tomorrow.
science has many consumables. I get 300 from my school at the start of the year, not nearly enough. The department certainly wont supply what I consider basics. for example: I plan to dissect earthworms and grasshoppers this year. I will be buying those this next week. Printer ink is notorious, I cant get enough. xerox paper, the list is extensive.
I buy paper, pencils, crayons, etc…..books, all kinds of resources I see in SCHOLASTIC….and treats for the kids who do what they are supposed to do…
