Teachers! Advice?

I just got my teacher a (belated) card for her b-day, which I found out was on the tenth. I really like this teacher and respect her more than anyone, but I’m also really shy.

Now that I have the card, I’m debating about putting my name on it. I know I can put the card on her desk w/ no one knowing it was me, because I’m an editor for her Journalism class and can easily go around school w/ no one noticing. But I’m nervous of what she would think if I added my name.

The card’s one of those sappy “You’re special”, “I’m thinking of you” kinda ones, because that’s all the store had. That’s definatly not the kind of thing you’d hear me say though. Wouldn’t that give the teacher the wrong impression to know a student’s “thinking about them”? Right now, I’m leaning more to the no name…

Just do it!!! As a teacher we love to hear that we have touched some of the students we have. Being a teacher is very hard and most students today do not respect all teachers so to know that a student has gone out of their way to get a b-day card is special to a teacher…SO PUT YOUR NAME ON IT!!!

Lean all the ways in the other direction.

The card would mean more to your teacher with a name on it than an anonymous card.

” That’s definatly not the kind of thing you’d hear me say though”

You are in a journalism class. I am sure (and I speak as a teacher and a Principal) the teacher would appreciate a hand written note more than a store bought card which even you did not like.

The lesson for today is both a writing and overcoming your shyness lesson. You have already mastered the appreciation lesson. Now for the spelling lesson. Check your spelling of your question with spell check. I do and have found that the Yahoo spell check is inadequate. I copy and past some of my responses into an e-mail with another Internet provider and use that for my spell check.

Place your name on it so that she knows it came from you. She’ll enjoy the card and won’t think it’s anything other than a thoughtful student giving her a card. Trust me =). I’m a teacher and thoroughly enjoy getting small tokens of appreciation from my students. It will bring a smile to her face and make her day.

I also understand where you’re concern is coming from. I remember last Valentine’s Day I bought boxed Valentine’s Day cards for all my students, and even though the cards had innocent sayings on them, there were a few that I didn’t give out just because they could all too easily have been misconstrued by someone looking for a reason to stir up trouble.

If you’re that concerned about giving your teacher the card, then wait until the end of the day to get it to her. This way, she’ll most likely read it after all the students have left.

It’s sounds like you have almost answered your own question. You bought a card that was the last one they had and yet it didn’t express your true feelings and don’t want to give the teacher the wrong impression. How about trashing the card and giving her a handwritten note saying what you told us: That you like her and respect her more than anyone and hoped she had a great birthday.

As a teacher, I dont want cards from my students on my birthday. What would mean more is a card at the end of the year sent to the school telling him/her how much you appreciated them. Then you can tell an anecdote or a favorite memory from class in the card.

I would put your name on it. It will make the teacher’s day. Trust me.

And the teacher wouldn’t (or at least shouldn’t) embarrass you over something like that.

well u have two choices…

no name and she’ll ask who gave it to her and thennnnn u can say it was you :]

orrrr

write your name on it and she can really thank the person that gave it to her. and if u dont want the other kids to hear u being thanked give it to her before school or after class..

hope tht helped :]

but i would suggest putting your name on it..i would if i was you…

If I was you, I would put my name on it, it would show the teacher that you really care for them, and it will keep that spark in them, that makes them want to teach.

you should def. put your name on it. You even said you respect her. And you obviously care about her and went out of your way to get her a card for her birthday.

I think you should put your name on it =]

who cares what others think…

I think if you sign it and have a few other students sign it things will be fine.
