Teacher pay scale?

What is an estimated salary for a public school teacher?

And what about for a private/prep school?

You should go online and find school websites in the area that you live in. Most schools human resource departments have a salary scale that tells you what each teacher makes based on how many years they have taught. You can check several schools and get a good idea of what teachers are making in your area.

In Indiana the average teacher makes around 45K.

The starting salary in my school corporation is 39K for zero years experience and a Bachelor’s Degree. The top salary is 57K with 20 years experience and a Master’s Degree.

That is what you will get for 185 days work and no extra paid assignments.

If you teach in a private school, expect far less money.

It depends where you live, but here in Kansas a lot of the first year secondary social studies teachers I train are starting around $32,000. If they coach, obviously they make more than that!

To the best of my knowledge, my students who choose to teach in private (religious) schools make less money than the public school teachers. But, the trade-offs are usually smaller classes and more parental support (equals fewer discipline problems because of involved parents who don’t want their money wasted).
