Requirements for becoming a preschool or kindergarten teacher?

Okay, I would like to know the requirements of becoming a kindergarten or a preschool teacher. I am a para-professional at a school for behavior and mentally disabled elementary students (similar to a teacher aid). I am considering looking for a new job at either a preschool teacher or a kindergarten teacher. I have an associates of art general education. and a bachelors in University Studies (thats like a general education degree also) I also have a temporary certificate for teaching and I have 5 classes that focus on Early Childhood Education. I have also work and volunteered with early childhood students for more than 9 years. What other requirements should I have to qualify as a early childhood teacher or a kindergarten teacher in different states in america?

To teach in a public school system and most private school settings you would also need a valid teaching certificate. You might be permitted to begin working with the temporary certificate under some circumstances. Most states have their own certification systems and requirements. You should check with a university or school system in the state in which you wish to teach. Or try asking a school district what you would need to be hired. You might be able to get this question answered by going to a website that posts job openings. The postings will usually tell you what credentials and experience you need.

There are many Head Start programs not affiliated with public schools that do not require certification for their teachers. In general public school teachers earn more than private school teachers and certificated teachers earn more than non-certificated teachers.
